Almost ten years ago now, I left the workforce and founded FlyingFish.ie with a simple mission: to take the stress out of websites for good.
I’ve met so many brilliant business owners who were frustrated with their websites. They were left stranded by “one-and-done” web projects, stuck trying to translate developer-speak, or just constantly worried about security and updates.
They were told they needed a website, but no one stuck around to be their partner. I built FlyingFish to be that partner—the expert, local team you can actually talk to.
From Journalism to ‘Big Tech’
My path here wasn’t a typical one. I’m Irish, grew up in Luxembourg, and my background is in Multimedia Journalism which I studied in the UK. My first passion was clear communication – taking complex topics and making them simple, human, and useful.
That passion for clarity led me to an unexpected place: the heart of ‘Big Tech’. Before starting FlyingFish, I spent years working on digital, content, and student programme teams inside some of the biggest tech companies in the world, including Google, Amazon, Salesforce, eBay and PayPal. I also helped manage the digital content for Ireland’s National Lottery website.
The Best of Both Worlds
It was an incredible education in how world-class digital platforms are built. But it also showed me the massive gap between “corporate-speak” and the real, everyday needs of business owners.
I started FlyingFish to bridge that gap. We combine the technical excellence and high standards I learned at Google and Amazon with the plain-English, personal approach of a journalist. Now the company is entering a new chapter and I am incredibly excited for what comes next.
We are set on delivering business owners the peace of mind of world-class website expertise, all from a friendly tech partner who just wants to see their business succeed. That’s my promise.
